Background

Lori Vallow Daybell, the so-called 'Doomsday mom,' was convicted in 2023 of murdering her children Joshua 'JJ' Vallow and Tylee Ryan and of conspiring to murder Tammy Daybell, her husband Chad Daybell's first wife. She is serving life without parole and was later convicted in two Arizona trials as well.

Defense: She was denied her constitutional right to counsel of choice when the court removed Mark Means in December 2021; key hearings occurred while she was unrepresented and had been found incompetent; Arizona-crime evidence should have been excluded; her speedy-trial right was violated.
